An iconic day out, born in Bream Bay

The inaugural Waipu Gravel Muster rolls out on 9 January 2027 — get ready to experience hundreds of kilometres of groomed secondary roads, free of traffic and set within stunning scenic views and natural landscapes.

Bring your crew. Organise race teams, meet up with friends and family, and get ready to experience the stunning beauty of Waipu. This is a day to ride hard and celebrate together.

All abilities welcome. The course caters for riders of every level — from a first taste of gravel on the Community Loop to the full-send Endurance Challenge deep in the Maungaturoto hinterland.

The Taster

Starts at Waipu Gravel Muster HQ and explores quiet rural roads before joining a gravel farm loop and returning to the race start. A social, achievable ride to get a real taste of gravel.

Heads inland on rolling gravel roads, into the Maungaturoto hinterland before returning to race start. The heart of the event — a proper day out with the climbs and views to match.

The Big Send

Heads deep inland on rolling gravel road and extended gravel sections into the Maungaturoto hinterland — for two full laps. Big kilometres, big climbing, big views.

The Course

From the coast, into the hinterland

Rolling out of Waipu, the course winds inland toward Maungaturoto through remote gravel valleys — then turns for home and the run back to Bream Bay.
